Palouse Falls State Park
The Palouse Falls State Park design focuses on creating a broader understanding of the watershed and its functions for all users. Visitors have the opportunity to interact with a small scale model of the watershed, as well as travel through a larger version to visit the falls. There are many opportunities for experiential learning throughout the park, ranging from an online check-in website to a large scale example of a braided river. This park breaks the boundaries of watershed education in innovative ways.
Ridgeline Community Living, Cremolino, Italy
Cremolino is a small town in the hills of northern Italy, in the province of Alessandria. It is a typical Italian hilltown, packed full of character and unique quirks. Cremolino offers a setting of a small but dense population. Our project site was located slightly west of Cremolino, branching off of the main access road to the Brucheta Church. This area is immensely beautiful, with great views of vineyards and forests in every direction. The site offers extremely steep slopes with a large amount of biodiversity in vegetation and in animal life. There is an existing path that connects this part of Cremolino to a system of vineyards, and the trail, though treacherous, is often used as part of a wine tasting tour. The purpose of this project was to create a housing community that is environmentally conscious, community based, and embraces the spirit of the traditional Italian hilltown.
